The basis of my Idea

In personal development there is a lot said about setting yourself a goal and giving your life focus, a direction. In addition, business's have a mission statement and business plan to give their company a focus and direction and to help give there staff a direction or focus within the company. Even within countries, there can be seen goals or mottos to live by. America has the American Dream, where people strive to be successful and achieve, eventually being able to live a life of luxury.

So where is the world's goal or focus

A lot of the World's problems can be seen as a conflict of beliefs or ideas. War's for example can be caused by a conflict of interests, such as money, oil or resources. Or a conflict of beliefs, such as religion, cultural or racial bigotry. This is not an exhaustive list by any means but if we managed to be more accepting of each other then a lot of the conflict would be reduced, and on a country scale, this can be very important.

The idea

The solution that I came up with, to the problem I set, was to give the world a goal. The one I have chosen, for the sake of this discussion is "unity", just that. Give the world a common unity by sending out one simple message of tolerance to all people.

How to do it

The idea is not to have governments or the united nation to give out this message or for the world to agree on it. What I envisage is a charity with the sole purpose of promoting world unity through publicity, email, internet etc. It would solely transmit this message to the world. It would therefore have no political or religious affiliation and would strongly avoid this. I also envisage that for simplicity and effectiveness it would have only one message, "Unity".

To facilitate this the message would need to be translated into as many languages as possible. This brings us to wonder what the message actually is, at the moment I have left it as unity to prevent people getting hung up on the message or questioning its validity. However to explain this message and put it across what I would propose is an atheistic or agnostic message proposing unity and the reasons for it. Along with this I would have the same argument proposed through all the worlds religions and translated into all languages (this is quite a large task but is achievable) e.g.

Christianity - "Do unto others, as you would have done unto you"
Translated into French, German, Spanish etc

This is only a very basic description or draft of my idea and I welcome any feedback, ideas, criticisms and points. So please give me your opinion, however, I would request that at all time you try to put it in a positive frame. Rather than say I am wrong offer a better solution or alternative idea.

Before I explain my idea and why I wrote this blog, let me first of all state the problem.

I was sitting one day thinking what I would do with my life? I have studied philosophy and decided to give the matter some seriouse thought. I have also studied a lot of personal development and success books and tapes, so I tried to think of something on a big scale that could really inspire me. So I set myself the problem of "What could I do that would have a positive impact on the entire world and was achievable?", a major task you can imagine but I though "what the hell its only thinking about it".
